Care
General Maintenance: Can be repotted annually if the plant has become quite rootbound.Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures. Ideally, keep at room temperature (around 20°C - 23°C). Keep above 16°C or they will go into dormancy.
Light: Full and partial shade, as direct sunlight will burn the leaves. Bright, indirect light is best or a few feet back from a west facing window.
Watering: Water frequently based on the season. This plant prefers its soil to be kept moist (but not soggy). In the winter they do not need as much water as they will during the growing season.
Fertilizer: Fertilize in spring and summer seasons. Can use compost or a liquid fertilizer.
Soil: Use a well draining soil. This can be achieved by using a general peat-based soil and adding perlite or orchid bark to create aeration for the roots.

Healthy, natural treat my dogs actually love—no mess!

These pig ears are the perfect natural alternative to rawhide. All three of my dogs go crazy for them, and I feel good giving them a single-ingredient treat.
What I used them for:
Occasional chew treats for my three dogs.
Pros:
Single-ingredient, natural treat
Dogs love the taste and texture
Doesn’t stain or leave a mess despite slobber
Good size for medium to large dogs
Cons:
Can be a bit odorous out of the bag (minor)
Real experience:
I’ve given these to all three dogs multiple times, and each one enjoys them equally. Unlike some rawhide or flavored chews, these don’t leave stains or get mushy—cleanup is easy, which I really appreciate.

One-and-done treat for giant breeds (our 186lb foster approves)

We foster a 186lb Saint Bernard, and finding treats that actually satisfy her without requiring half the bag has been a challenge. These pig ears? Game changer.
What makes these work:
- ONE ear = one satisfied dog (compared to other treats where the bag says “35 per day” and she’d still beg for more)
- Keeps her busy for about 5 minutes of focused chewing
- She does a little excited dance when she sees the bag—can’t even sit, just wiggles
- Zero crumbs or mess because she devours every single bit, then spends the next hour sniffing around hoping another one appears
- She immediately grabs it and heads to her favorite bed to settle in—doesn’t move until it’s gone
The only “issue”:
There’s a bit of oil/greasiness when handling them, but nothing a quick hand wash can’t fix (Mrs. Meyer’s Cucumber soap works great, just saying).
Bottom line: If you have a giant breed and you’re tired of buying treats that require multiple servings or disappear in one bite, these are it.
